Industry experts agree that the American Tobacco Trust halted the printing of Wagner's card early in the T206 set's three-year production period. Wagner did not want to be a role model to entice children to smoke so he requested his card image be taken out of the American Tobacco packs. Hence the card's very rare existence. Historically, the American Card Catalogue, first published in the 1930's listed the other T206 card in the set at 35¢ - the Wagner card already famous listed a value of $50.
