BABY BAMBINO!!!... Offered here is, other than the 1909 T206 Honus Wagner, the most important baseball card ever issued. This card, issued in 1914 by the Baltimore News Company, is Babe Ruth's Rookie card and Graded a PSA 2. The card is a dark blue bordered minor league card of the young slugger right out of St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys, measuring 2 5/8ths x 3 5/8ths. There were actually 2 different versions of this card produced. First was this blue bordered one, then the red bordered one. This one is the blue bordered version and there are a total of 12 of these cards known to exist.
The cards were issued with the Baltimore Teams Schedule on the back for home and abroad games. Above the teams name on the back is "Compliments of". Condition of this Extremely Rare Ruthian Example is as follows: The front is VG-EX, with almost perfect centering, some light border creases in the lower right side with a minute crease in the middle of the left border. Minor wear and chipping on the borders edge is visible, but not uncommon with this series of cards due to the age and color of the card. The corners are square and are amazingly strong being the card is pushing 100 years old. The back of this beauty has very minimal paper loss affecting some of the letters in the advertising text. The paper loss in our opinion makes this card graded appropriately.
Consider the fact that this card is one of the nicest of the dozen examples in existence. Front and Back this card has tremendous eye appeal and being almost 100 years old and rarer than the 60 or so examples of the T206 Wagner card, this Rookie card of the Babe would be the highlight of any collection. Step up to the Plate here, as this opportunity might never happen again. Also consider that this card would crossover to SGC, guaranteed in an SGC 30 holder.
Tremendous upside potential. Bid to own.
