Lot 3 - 1937 Lou Gehrig Single-signed Baseball
In 1937 Troop 1 Flushing, NY as one of the most famous and leading Boy Scout Troops in America. Troop One is on of the original Boy Scout Troops chartered in the US dating back to 1910.

The Troop’s benefactor was a well known commercial artist and naturalist Mr. Dan Beard. Beard was the organizing force behind the national growth of Boy Scouting across America in the 1920 and 1930’s.
Troop one’s annual Father and Son dinner speakers were a virtual Who’s Who’s of America from Sports to Exploration to all kinds of public endeavors.

Babe Ruth was a speaker in years previous to Lou Gehrig. Others besides Ruth who spoke at these events were: Amelia Earhart Frank Buck, Ed Wynne, Jim Braddock, Jim Corbett, Frankie Frisch, Admiral Byrd, and many more Who’s Who’s in America!

Lou Gehrig was a special speaker for the Boys.

Mr.Dan Beard Lou Gherig
What made it special was Lou’s style and manner with the boys. He chatted and ate dinner with them. When it came time to acknowledge the Scout awards he personally handed stark this signed ball.
However, even more so, what makes this Ball so very special is Gehrig signed it on the ball’s “Sweet Spot”. A sweet sport single signed Lou Gehrig ball is very rarely seen in the Hobby – making this ball a true collectible rarity.
